How to Pay Foreign University Tuition with USDT (Flywire Guide)

Your bank can’t send the wire, or it got stuck on the way. Here is how to pay a foreign university’s tuition yourself with USDT: deposit, issue a virtual Mastercard, load it and pay on Flywire or the school’s portal. With the real costs, the limits and the cases where it won’t work.

Mehbit card paying university tuition on Flywire: USDT in, card payment instead of a stuck bank wire

Paying a foreign university is usually the hardest part of going abroad. Your own bank may not send international transfers at all, and a wire that does go out can sit at a correspondent bank for weeks or come back. Meanwhile the deposit deadline doesn’t move.

Most universities that take international students also accept card payments, usually through Flywire or their own payment portal. With a Mehbit virtual Mastercard funded with USDT, you can make that payment yourself, the same day, without handing your money to an intermediary. This guide walks through the whole process, what it costs, and when it is not the right tool.

First, check that your university accepts card payments

Open your university’s “fees”, “finance” or “how to pay” page and look for one of these:

  • Flywire. The most common platform for international fees in the UK, Canada, Australia and the US. If you see “pay with Flywire”, this guide fits.
  • An online student portal with a card option. Many schools take Visa and Mastercard directly in their own portal or through another payment provider.
  • Bank transfer only. Some schools, and some fees, can only be paid by wire. A card cannot help there. See the caveats below.

Find out what you are paying, too. An enrolment or CAS deposit, a semester’s tuition and accommodation are often separate invoices with separate deadlines.

What you need

  • Your invoice or offer letter, with the amount due and your student or application ID.
  • USDT on BEP20 (BSC), TRC20 (Tron) or ERC20 (Ethereum), in an exchange account or your own wallet.
  • A Mehbit account. Sign up with email or Telegram in the Mehbit app. No ID scans.
  • About half an hour, plus the time your USDT transfer takes to confirm.

Step by step: from invoice to receipt

1. Get the exact amount

Start the payment on Flywire or the school’s portal before you load anything, and stop at the summary screen. Flywire charges a Mehbit card in US dollars: it converts your university’s currency itself and shows the exact dollar figure, plus any card fee, before you confirm. That figure is what your card has to cover.

2. Deposit USDT into your Mehbit wallet

In the app, open the wallet and pick a network. You get a deposit address for it. Send enough to cover the tuition, the 5% card load fee and the small fixed fees in the cost table below. Each deposit costs a flat 2 USDT and the minimum is 10 USDT. Send on the same network as the address, or the transfer is lost.

3. Issue a card that matches the country

For a UK university, choose the United Kingdom Mastercard. A UK card paying a UK school avoids the “international card” surcharge that some universities add on Flywire. For schools in other countries, either card works. What matters is the payer country you choose in step 5. Issuance takes about 5 minutes, and the card carries your name.

Paying a UK school? The UK tuition and CAS deposit guide lists which portal the main universities use and how the CAS deposit works.

4. Load the card

Move the amount from your wallet onto the card. Loading costs 5% of the amount, added on top, so loading $10,000 takes $10,500 from your wallet. At least $5 has to stay in the wallet after a load, and you can load up to $50,000 a day per card. If the bill is larger, load over two or more days, and start early enough to finish before the deadline.

5. Pay on Flywire or the portal

  • Payer country: choose the country your card was issued in (United Kingdom for the UK card, Singapore for the Singapore card), not the country you live in.
  • Payment method: pick the card option, not bank transfer.
  • Student details: enter your name and student or application ID exactly as on the invoice, so the money lands on your account.
  • Card details: enter the card number, expiry and CVV from the app. Use your name as printed on the card.
  • Check the summary for any card fee, then confirm. Flywire confirms a card payment immediately.

If the payment is declined, the most common reason is a balance that is a few dollars short. Load the difference and try again.

6. Keep the receipt

Save the Flywire confirmation email and, once the money reaches your student account, the university’s receipt. Visa applications often ask for proof that a deposit or tuition was paid (for example, a CAS deposit for a UK student visa), so ask your university which document it accepts. The payment also appears in your card’s transaction history and monthly statement in the app.

What it costs: an honest cost table

Two examples on the UK card, with one USDT deposit and a new card. The tuition is the dollar amount Flywire shows.

Tuition $10,000Tuition $30,000
Card load fee (5%)$500$1,500
Card transaction fee$0.35$0.35
Wallet deposit fee (per deposit)2 USDT2 USDT

Total cost on top of tuition$522.35 (about 5.2%)$1,522.35 (about 5.1%)
USDT to send, including the $5 that stays in your wallet10,527.35 USDT31,527.35 USDT
  • There is no VAT line: tuition paid through Flywire has not carried card VAT.
  • The university or Flywire may add its own card fee. It is often around 3% when the payer country does not match the card’s country, and it is shown on the summary screen before you pay.
  • Your exchange or wallet charges its own network fee to send USDT.
  • The 5% is the same for every amount. There is no tier and no negotiated rate. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Is this the cheapest route? Not always. A bank wire or an exchange house can cost less in percentage terms when it works. What you pay for with a card is control and speed: you pay yourself, in minutes, the money goes straight to the university’s own payment page, and a refund comes back to a card in your name.

Limits and large payments

  • $50,000 a day per card. Larger tuition bills are loaded over more than one day.
  • The balance must cover the payment. A payment larger than the card balance is declined. Nothing is charged, and you can retry after loading.
  • Instalments: if your university allows paying in parts, each part is a separate Flywire payment. You can use the same card each time.

When this won’t work, and what to watch

  • Wire-only fees. If the school accepts only a bank transfer, a card can’t pay it. Mehbit doesn’t send wires or pay on your behalf.
  • Refunds come back to the card. If you withdraw or overpay, the university refunds through Flywire to the original card. Keep the card open until any refund has arrived. You can then move the money back to your wallet and withdraw it as USDT. Exchange rates move, so a refund can differ slightly from what you paid.
  • Deadlines. Leave a few days of margin, especially if you need more than one day of loading.
  • Payer country. A mismatch between the payer country and the card’s country is the usual cause of an unexpected card fee.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay university tuition with crypto directly?

Almost no universities accept crypto, and Flywire takes cards, bank transfers and local methods, not USDT. The card is the bridge: you fund it with USDT, and the university receives a normal card payment.

Does Flywire accept virtual cards?

Flywire accepts international Mastercard cards, and a Mehbit virtual card is a Mastercard. Our Flywire page shows its payment-tested status and the details of how the payment works.

Which card should I choose for a UK university?

The United Kingdom Mastercard, with “United Kingdom” as the payer country on Flywire. That avoids the international card surcharge some UK universities add.

Can I pay an application fee or a deposit the same way?

Yes, if the school takes it by card. A deposit on Flywire follows exactly the same steps. Application portals that take cards work the same way.

How long does the whole thing take?

Card issuance takes about 5 minutes. A USDT deposit is credited once the network confirms it. Flywire confirms the card payment straight away, and the university usually shows it on your student account within a few working days.

Do I need to verify my identity?

No ID scans. You sign up with email or Telegram and a phone number, and the card is issued with your name on it.

Is there a guide for my country?

Yes, for the most common destinations: paying UK university tuition and the CAS deposit, paying Canadian university and college tuition, German semester fees, uni-assist and private universities, Australian tuition, deposits and OSHC and Italian application fees and tuition. Each lists how the main schools take payments and the deposits you are likely to pay.
