Pay on Ozon

What we actually tested: a Mehbit card, topped up with USDT, was used to pay for an order on Ozon’s Armenia storefront. The checkout asked for 3-D Secure confirmation, the payment went through and it settled. That is the full scope of the test — one storefront, Armenia. It says nothing about ozon.ru or about Ozon’s storefronts in other countries.

What Ozon itself documents for Armenia: its help centre says that bank cards issued in Armenia and in Russia are accepted for payment. A Mehbit card is issued in neither country, so our successful payment goes beyond what Ozon promises in writing. Treat it as a tested, working result rather than an official guarantee — Ozon can change how its checkout handles foreign-issued cards at any time.

What about ozon.ru? For shoppers in Russia, Ozon lists Visa, Mastercard, Mir, UnionPay, JCB and American Express cards, but its help pages say nothing about cards issued abroad. Visa and Mastercard suspended their operations in Russia in 2022, and since then international cards issued outside Russia have generally been declined by Russian online merchants. We have not tested a Mehbit card on ozon.ru, so do not count on it working there.

Other countries have their own rules too. For the Ozon Belarus basket, Ozon says it accepts cards issued in Belarus, and cards issued in Russia other than Visa and Mastercard. For Uzbekistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia it says only that payment with Russian-issued cards is temporarily unavailable. We have not tested a Mehbit card on any of these storefronts.

Currency is the other thing to plan for. Ozon charges in the order currency shown at checkout — Armenian drams on the Armenia storefront — and says that if your card account is in a different currency, the amount is converted at the bank’s own rate, so the final charge can differ from the total on the order page. A Mehbit card is a US-dollar card, so keep a margin above the order total.

Delivery and returns follow Ozon’s local rules. In Armenia, orders arrive at Ozon pickup points, by courier or through Haypost, and the cost and delivery time are calculated at checkout. Some brands are not shipped outside Russia, and local customs may ask for taxes or duties. To return an item you file a request in your account, then hand it over at a pickup point that accepts returns or send it by post or courier; Ozon says it compensates return shipping only when the item is defective.
