Pay for Smashwords

Every ebook on Smashwords is priced by its author, so there is no subscription or membership — you pay once per book. Prices are generally shown in US dollars, and many titles cost just a few dollars. Nearly 100,000 books are priced at free on any given day, and every book page offers a free sample, so you can read the opening before you buy.

To buy, you need a free Smashwords account. Add books to your cart and pay at checkout by credit card or PayPal. Smashwords does not list crypto as a payment option, which is where a USDT-funded card helps: you keep your funds in USDT, move only what you need onto a Mehbit virtual card, and pay the Smashwords checkout like any other card purchase.

Ebooks are delivered as DRM-free files, primarily in EPUB, which opens in almost every reading app and e-reader. After purchase a book stays in your Smashwords Library, where you can download it again at any time, read it in the browser with the online reader, or send it to your device by email or Dropbox. DRM-free does not mean shareable — the licence is for you, and Smashwords asks readers not to copy or pass on the files.

Smashwords also runs regular store-wide promotions where authors discount their books, including Read an Ebook Week, the July Summer/Winter Sale and an end-of-year sale. If you buy a lot, waiting for one of these events is the easiest way to save. You can also send a book to someone else with the Give as a Gift option; the recipient gets an email with a link to add it to their own Library.

Smashwords’ reader FAQ states that all sales are final, so ebooks are not returnable once bought. Read the free sample first, double-check the format and edition before paying, and make sure your Mehbit card already holds the amount of your cart — an empty card is declined even though Smashwords accepts the card itself.
