Tips

Subscribe at x.com in a browser, never inside the Android app. The in-app purchase goes through Google Play, which declines our cards outright — this is the single most common way a working card still fails to buy X Premium.

Check the price for the region on your account before you top up. X prices Premium per country and the gap is large; the charge we verified was under $3 because the account was billed in Japanese yen, not because Basic costs that everywhere.

Consider annual billing if you intend to keep it. The annual rate is discounted against twelve monthly charges, and it also means one funded moment per year instead of twelve.

Keep the card funded ahead of the renewal date, not on it. The renewal is attempted automatically, and a card that is short at that moment is declined even if you top it up an hour later. Losing the checkmark mid-cycle is a visible failure.
