What is this service?
WeChat is China’s dominant messaging app, and far more besides — a social feed, a payments wallet, and a platform for mini-programs that act as small apps inside it. Tencent, its publisher, bills a range of paid items through it.
The paid side is what brings people to this page: WeChat Pay top-ups, in-app purchases inside mini-programs and games, and subscriptions billed by Tencent. All of these are charged to a card.
On a Mehbit card those charges are declined, and for a different reason than most blocked services. This one is a country restriction, not a merchant category restriction.
Why is payment hard?
Many local bank cards are not authorized for international SaaS billing. Services process payments through Stripe on international rails, so domestic-only cards are often declined even when you have sufficient balance.

WeChat and Tencent charges are declined at the card network on Mehbit virtual Mastercard because they are billed from a restricted country — a country block rather than the merchant category block that stops Steam and Google Play. WeChat does not accept cryptocurrency from you directly either. Note that attaching a foreign card to WeChat Pay also requires Tencent account verification, which a card alone does not solve.

Can I pay for WeChat with a Mehbit card?
No. We tested a real charge and it was declined at the card network because WeChat and Tencent bill from a country that is restricted on these cards.
Why is my card declined for WeChat?
Because of a country restriction rather than a merchant category one. The charge is billed from a restricted country, so the network stops it regardless of what you are buying. Your card balance is not the issue.
Is this the same block that stops Steam and Google Play?
No. Steam and Google Play are blocked by merchant category — the code describing what is being sold. WeChat is blocked by the country the charge is billed from. Different rule, same outcome for you.
Can I add a Mehbit card to WeChat Pay?
The card would be declined by the country restriction, and separately Tencent generally requires identity verification of your WeChat account before a foreign card can be attached at all. A card does not solve the verification requirement.
Does WeChat accept cryptocurrency?
No. WeChat does not accept cryptocurrency from users.
Tips
Do not keep retrying. The decline is a country rule applied at the card network, so every attempt fails identically no matter which WeChat product you are buying.
Issuing a new Mehbit card will not help. The country restriction follows the card program, not the individual card number.
Do not assume WeChat Pay account verification is solved by a card. Tencent generally requires identity verification before a foreign card can be attached, and that is a separate hurdle from the payment itself.
