What is Alipay?
Alipay is the mobile wallet and payments app run by Ant Group in China. People use it to pay shops, online stores, bills and transport, and to send money to other users.
Alipay lets users from outside mainland China add an international bank card to the app, which is why travellers and people buying from Chinese sellers look for a card that works with it.
A Mehbit card does not. Charges from Alipay are billed from China, and China is a restricted country on these cards, so the card network declines them.
Why local cards get declined at Alipay

Can I add a Mehbit card to Alipay?
No. We tested it with a real card and it was declined at the card network, because Alipay bills from China and China is a restricted country on these cards.
Why is my card declined on Alipay?
Because of where the charge comes from. Alipay charges are billed from China, so the network stops them whatever you are paying for. Your card balance is not the problem.
Is this the same block as WeChat Pay?
Yes. WeChat Pay is billed from China too and is declined by the same country restriction.
Will a new Mehbit card work with Alipay?
No. The restriction applies to every Mehbit card, so a new card number is declined the same way.
Tips for paying Alipay
