What is this service?
giffgaff is a UK mobile network operated by giffgaff Limited, based in Reading. It runs on O2’s mobile network and sells SIM-only service online: you order a free SIM or install an eSIM, pick a plan or add credit, and manage everything from your account on the website or in the giffgaff app.
There are three ways to pay for service. Credit is pay-as-you-go money that also covers anything a plan leaves out. Plans — once called goodybags — last one month and come with unlimited minutes and texts plus a data allowance. 18-month contract plans give more data for the money in exchange for a longer commitment. giffgaff does not run a credit check for a plan or a contract plan.
All of these are paid for online by card. A Mehbit virtual Mastercard topped up with USDT has been used for giffgaff payments that went through and settled. Keep in mind that giffgaff is a UK service: getting a SIM, activating it and any address or identity requirements are giffgaff’s own rules, and they are separate from the card you pay with.
Why is payment hard?
Many local bank cards are not authorized for international SaaS billing. Services process payments through Stripe on international rails, so domestic-only cards are often declined even when you have sufficient balance.

giffgaff lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal and vouchers, and a reloadable Mehbit virtual card has been accepted. No crypto payment option is listed. giffgaff is a UK service, and its community forum has reports of some non-UK cards being refused.

FAQ
Can I pay giffgaff with a virtual Mastercard?
Yes. giffgaff accepts Visa and Mastercard, and we tested it with a real Mehbit card — giffgaff payments have gone through and settled more than once. Issue a Mehbit virtual card, top it up with USDT, and use it to buy a plan or add credit in your giffgaff account.
Does giffgaff accept crypto?
No crypto option is listed — giffgaff takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal and vouchers. A USDT-funded Mehbit card bridges the gap: you move the USDT you need onto the card and pay giffgaff by card. The charge is in pounds, so it is converted from the card’s dollar balance.
Do I need a UK address to use giffgaff?
giffgaff is built for people in the UK. Physical SIMs are delivered only to UK addresses or bought in UK shops, while an eSIM is activated in the giffgaff app on an unlocked eSIM phone. Sign-up, activation and any address or identity checks are giffgaff’s own rules — a Mehbit card only covers the payment.
Will giffgaff accept a card issued outside the UK?
giffgaff’s help centre lists the card brands it takes without stating a UK-only rule, and payments with a Mehbit card have gone through. However, members on giffgaff’s community forum have reported non-UK cards being refused, so acceptance is not guaranteed for every card or every attempt.
How much does giffgaff cost?
Plan prices are in pounds and change often with promotions, so check giffgaff’s site for the current list. Credit top-ups run from £10 to £30 in £5 steps. With a Mehbit card the charge is converted from pounds to US dollars at the rate on the day.
Can I get a refund from giffgaff?
If you cancel within 14 days of activating your SIM, giffgaff refunds your remaining credit and the unused part of your plan to the payment method used at activation, usually within 3 to 5 business days once the refund is started. Later requests are reviewed case by case. Keep your Mehbit card active so a refund can return to it.
Tips
Sort out the SIM first: giffgaff posts SIMs only to UK addresses, and an eSIM needs an unlocked eSIM phone and the giffgaff app.
Top up the Mehbit card before you pay, with a little extra — giffgaff charges in pounds, so the dollar amount moves with the exchange rate.
Start with a monthly rolling plan rather than an 18-month contract; you can cancel it any time with no early termination charge.
Renewal payments are usually taken shortly after 9pm on the day your plan expires — make sure the card has funds by then.
Switch on auto top-up only if you keep the card funded; it charges the card whenever your credit drops below £3.
Use the SIM at least once every six months so the number is not deactivated.
Keep the Mehbit card active after paying: giffgaff sends refunds back to the payment method you used.
